- "My mission is not to feel, my objective is not to think. I execute orders, and I eliminate targets without prejudice... one way or another; and now I kill my own kind but not because I'm a traitor. It's because they're the only adversaries worthy of my skill. My name is Agent Zero, and I know what side I'm on. Do you?"
- ―Agent Zero
Agent Zero (born David Nord) was a mutant, a lethal marksman, and William Stryker's loyal second-in-command.
Biography[]
X-Men Origins: Wolverine Prologue[]
- "Don't worry Nancy. More people die driving than flying."
- ―Agent Zero
During mid-late 1973, Zero was a member of Team X, a Special Ops team consisting of mutants Chris Bradley, John Wraith, Fred Dukes, Wade Wilson, Victor Creed and James Howlett, under the command of William Stryker. One of the missions involved traveling to Lagos, Nigeria to find a source of adamantium. To do so, the team had to infiltrate a diamond trafficking facility which was run by a warlord who knew the whereabouts of this source. Zero is first in line of attack, walking into the perimeter of the facility and alerting the guards who immediately notice him and demand that he surrender. Zero slowly puts his hands behind his head, but little did the guards know that this was not his way of surrendering. Zero immediately pulls his handguns from behind his back, quickly eliminating several of the guards within seconds. After firing his handguns at a turret manned by one of the guards, causing the turret to rotate towards other guards and killing them, Zero proceeds to advance and reload his guns in midair before finishing off the rest of the guards with pinpoint accuracy. Afterwards, the other team members use their mutant abilities to get past security, which allows Stryker to interrogate the warlord about the source of the adamantium.
After finding the source, Stryker interrogates the local civilians of the village the warlord directed them to, with Wade Wilson serving as a translator. After not being able to get an answer from the people as to the precise location of the adamantium, Stryker orders the team to begin killing the local people until they say where the source is. A divide in the team occurs as while Zero, alongside Wade and Victor, immediately engage in the bloodshed, Fred, Logan, Chris and John all hesitate at the prospect of killing innocent people. Logan eventually steps in by first tackling Zero and then preventing Victor from killing someone. After an argument between him and Victor, Logan leaves Team X. After Logan leaves, Stryker and the rest of the team start hunting other mutants so that their DNA can be used to create a mutant killer. This causes other team members to leave until Zero, Wade, and Victor are the only ones from Team X faithful to Stryker.
X-Men Origins: Wolverine[]
- "Still chewing on cheap cigars?"
- ―Agent Zero
Six years after the events in Africa, Zero and Stryker visit Logan while at work to inform him that Bradley and Wade were killed recently. Before doing so, Stryker asks Logan if he remembers Agent Zero. Logan responds by mocking Zero and asking if he's still shooting first and asking questions later. Zero responds by pulling out his concealed gun, shooting Logan's Cigar, and, after putting away his gun, asks Logan a follow-up question as to if he's still chewing on cheap cigars.
As Stryker tells Logan he has a job for him, Logan tells Stryker he already has a job. Zero humorously questions Logan's job payment as a lumberjack by asking if it pays 18 grand a year. Logan corrects him by saying his pay is actually 18.5 grand a year, before saying he hasn't had to kill anybody lately. Zero asks if Logan is starting to miss it, Logan, getting irritated, says that he now is, before Stryker breaks them up, ordering Zero to the car, which he proceeds to do.
2 days later, after Wolverine has adamantium grafted to his entire skeleton and breaks out of the Weapon X facility, Stryker orders Zero to pursue him - eventually tracking him to a barn belonging to an elderly couple who had taken Wolverine in. Zero shoots the couple and blows up the barn in an attempt to kill Wolverine, without avail. Wolverine, however, escapes riding away on a motorbike and is soon pursued by a Zero in a helicopter. Wolverine eventually brings the helicopter down. Severely injured and trapped inside the helicopter, Zero mocks Wolverine about how innocent people die around him. As Wolverine walks away, he ignites a trail of fuel with his claws, causing the helicopter to explode and killing Zero, who was trapped inside.
X2: X-Men United[]
Zero's name appeared on a list of mutants on Col. Stryker's computer when it was accessed by Mystique.
X-Men: Days of Future Past[]
Due to Wolverine traveling back in time to January 1973, and preventing Bolivar Trask from being assassinated by Mystique, and changing the significant events after that point, Team X was never formed. Thus, he was never killed by Wolverine.Personality[]
Zero has been described as "smug" and "robotic" for thinking himself to be better than others due to his skills, as well as the fact that he operates only to kill who is he told to kill.
Powers and Abilities[]
Powers[]
- "And now I kill my own kind, but not because I'm a traitor... that's because they're the only adversaries worthy of my skill."
- ―Agent Zero
- Superhuman Accuracy: Zero's mutant power was lethal accuracy with firearms, making him an incredible sniper and sharpshooter.[1] He was able to quickly draw his sidearm and shoot Logan's cigar without hitting him. He possessed great situational awareness, as during the Nigerian mission he was able to take out several guards while maneuvering through the air, and even reload his pistols by throwing them into the air and catching them with the magazines he was holding in his hands. During Logan's escape, he shot him in the head, and he only survived due to his new adamantium skeleton. He later shot and killed the Hudsons from a distance with his sniper rifle.
- Superhuman Agility: Zero's agility, balance, and bodily coordination were enhanced to levels that were beyond the natural physical limits of even the finest human athlete.
- Superhuman Reflexes: Zero's reflexes were enhanced to levels unobtainable by normal human beings. To which, he is shown able to gun down multiple enemies before they can even realize he fired.
- Superhuman Speed: Zero was able to flip his twin Taurus PT92's and reload them as they fell into his grip at unfathomable speed.
- Inodorosity: Zero had no scent, making it near-impossible for the Wolverine to sense him.[2]
Abilities[]
- "Hunt him down. Take his head off."
- ―William Stryker to Agent Zero
- Expert Assassin: Zero served as Stryker's weapons specialist, assassin, sniper and bodyguard.
Weaknesses[]
- Limited Durability: Zero is not immune to explosive attacks. This is evident when Wolverine ignites a trail of fire, leading up to the helicopter Zero was trapped in, causing an explosion, and killing the marksman.
Equipment[]
- Beretta 92FS Inox: Zero used a suppressed pistol to shoot Logan's cigar in half.
- Taurus PT92: Zero carried a pair of stainless pistols to Nigeria, and notably reloaded them by throwing them in the air and inserted fresh magazines as they fell back into his grip. He later dual-wielded the pistols at Alkali Lake to shoot Wolverine in the head, although the latter survived due to his new adamantium skeleton.
- SVD Dragunov: Zero used a sniper rifle to assassinate the Hudsons.
- Accuracy International AS50: Zero used a sniper rifle in the video game against Wolverine.
