Jessica Chastain will portray Smith in Dark Phoenix.

She was rumored to portray Lilandra Neramani of the Sh'iar Empire, however, a deleted Instagram comment by Chastain revealed that she will not be playing the character. ^[1]^[2]
Chastain portrayed Eleanor Rigby in The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby with James McAvoy.
Chastain worked with Brad Pitt in The Tree of Life.
Chastain will star in It: Chapter Two with Deadpool 2 actor Bill Skarsgård.
