I follow the New Mutants Updates account on Twitter, and they've said that all the footage for the trailer is from principal photography. The movie hasn't undergone any major reshoots since it was delayed. It will also be PG-13 but still maintain a scary tone. The director seems to be happy with the film as it is, and Marvel apparently gave it their blessing according to Bill Sienkiewicz.
That's really great to hear. I was just reading the The New Mutants article on the wiki to find out more about the movie's production given its 2 year delay. It mentions 50% of the movie was reshot. Did the reshoots happen after the first delay and not the second?
I'm glad the movie is getting a full release as there was speculation it might be moved to Disney+. The trailer looked amazing!
Those ideas sound awesome! With the black and white colour scheme, were you thinking just a plain black background with yellow headers? Or were you thinking of something to have in the background in particular? No right or wrong answer, that design could look really great!
The header graphic is also a good idea, I'd played around with making that image textless already using another image and I've had good results.
I think with the main page a lot will be changing the colour scheme again. With what you said above, changing the pinkish boxes to a yellowish colour would look good. The Featured Characters and Featured Video would also be updated of course with the new characters/videos from the movie.
The only big area I would be tempted to change is the main page slider. Per Fandom's main page guidelines, sliders aren't seen as best practice as much of the content is hidden if that makes sense. Plus, your current slider features current New Mutants news, but also two sections that won't gain much traffic from readers.
I would recommend having a lede section (per the main page guidelines) outlining the purpose of the wiki including what the X-Men Movies franchise is, and then a section below talking about The New Mutants. An example of something like that is something I drew up here. After making that adjustment, the SpongeBob Wiki's main page moved up in the search rankings even - it's that effective.
Excuse the long post, just wanted to brain storm some ideas. Just to say you don't have to do anything I've suggested, it's just some ideas. Important to bounce some ideas around to find the best options! :)
Hey! I finally drafted something here. It's not finished just to say but I wondered if the faces as the main background might be a good option. I only say as much of the latest The New Mutants material feature the faces prominently.
I did play around with the black and yellow colour scheme and that also works. I thought about adding some images from the trailer on the background, this is another option:
You may have some better trailer image selections to be included, I was just playing around with the idea. Thoughts appreciated! :)
No worries! Happy to help. I think you'll get where I'm coming from but after the negative press around The New Mutants after its delays, it feels great hyping it up on the wiki and the most recent trailer was awesome too. Film makers worked so hard on the movie, I want to do my bit to spread some positivity and hype for it!
I was so hyped when the first teaser dropped for The New Mutants back in 2017. I loved the concept of a horror-superhero movie set in the X-Men universe, but all the delays and the Disney-Fox merger made me question whether we'd ever see it on the big screen. I'm so happy that we're getting to enjoy the final Fox X-Men movie in cinemas. If the trailers are anything to go by, it's sure to be great.
Have you noticed that the colours on the main page are not blending well with the new theme of the wiki? Is there any way you can fix it by any chance?
Do you object if I alter the design slightly and switch some of it to CSS coding? It's just a bit tough to navigate through the templates on there. If I switched it to CSS, it would make it a lot easier to navigate.
Hey there! I've gone ahead and implemented a 'first draft' as it were. It took quite a bit of time as there were some many templates to change colours with (I'll tidy those up more a bit later). What do you think?
I think you or one of the other admins changed the colour scheme on the wiki a bit and I adjusted the headings accordingly. One reason I made the main content area a lighter colour was because I felt it made the wiki look brighter and, in my view, can make it more inviting for users.
Ok no worries! Just to go through my reasoning for maker it the lighter background, I wondered if it made the content space look a bit brighter and more inviting for users if that makes sense. The black background looks good too, was just going through my reasoning. :)
